What we do

Our Tours

We offer two types of tours: small group tours, or tailor-made tours, where we design an itinerary for an individual, couple or a group.

Our itineraries have all been carefully created to show you the best that Ethiopia has to offer. Sightseeing and treks are undertaken by expert local guides and escorts. To enhance your experience, we arrange memorable special events such as a special ceremony, performance, meal or drinks at characteristic and spectacular locations.

Group sizes

Group sizes are usually restricted to a maximum of 25 and a minimum of 10, so you are able to get the best out of your experience and lessen any negative impact on local communities. However, we also operate tours even for very small groups.

As well as general interest group tours, which reveal the Ethiopia’s most fascinating cultures, magnificent wildlife or spectacular landscapes, Choke Hights also organises Religious and Historical & Culture tours focused on art, architecture and archaeology.

We can also arrange a private group tour or single-centre holiday for your society, club or family. We will provide English-speaking local representatives, guides and drivers at your destination from your arrival and throughout your tour.

Accommodation

We understand that the places we stay can be every bit as important as the sights we visit and the things we do. We therefore pride ourselves on offering you comfortable accommodation usually 3 or 4 stars. However, when we venture off the beaten tourist trail, we may stay in more basic accommodation

Please note that if you are a single traveller, a single supplement will be charged.

Transport

We may use domestic flights to cover long distances.

For road journeys Choke Hights uses modern, spacious air-conditioned/heated private vehicles, 4×4 jeeps, buses or coaches appropriate to the size of the group and the terrain.

Guides

We use the services of specially chosen local English-speaking guides who really know their subject and can bring places to life. In addition to providing relevant background information, they can also explain the local way of life, customs and issues in depth.
